Sociology – February 5 through 9

This week we will be delving into the topics of cultural conformity and adaptation along with the topic of social structure.

This is the last week before midterm, so everyone is encouraged to finish strong and to continue to keep good focus and energy in class.

De lunes a miércoles estudiaremos el Romanticismo, para estudiar este tema se les dará una lista de temas de los cuales seleccionarán el que más les interese para preparar la presentación.

Jueves 8:  para los que están leyendo “Viaje al centro de la tierra” trabajarán en el círculo literario. El resto trabajará individualmente.

Viernes 9: deberán llevar los resúmenes,  vocabulario, escenario y  personajes de los primeros cinco capítulos del libro que haya seleccionado.

Language Arts – January 29th – February 2nd

This week we will continue to read 1984 by George Orwell. Students will finish the mini-project and we will discuss the complexities of creating a language. We will continue to look at themes and ideas from the novel in preparation for the exam on Friday, February 2nd.

Important Dates:

Monday Homework: Prepare to present language

Tuesday Homework: Chapters 6-7

Wednesday Homework: Chapter 8

Friday: Exam Chapters 5-8

Physical Education January 29- February 2, 2018

TENTH GRADE:

During this week, the students will work on developing the following fundamental skills of SOCCER: passing, dribbling, shooting and goalkeeping. Students will put this knowledge to test in games.

Required Materials for Class:  Tennis shoes, water bottle and appropriate clothing.

 

Optional Materials for Class:  Bug spray, hat and sunscreen.        

PLEASE TAKE NOTE: To participate in class activities and receive full credit for the class, students need to wear appropriate clothing for P.E. class.

 

GOALS: We will use the word RESPECT to set the main goals for the year.

 

Right to Learn – Every child has this right to be educated!

Effort – Win or lose, trying is the most important trait.

Safety – The number one priority each day!

Purpose – Understanding how the activity can benefit you.

Enthusiasm – Positive energy creates a positive environment!

Challenge – Challenge yourself to improve each day.

Trust/Teamwork – Work with and trust others, the result can be amazing!

 

REMINDER: I would like to remind you that all students need to be dressed appropriately for the days that they have P.E. class. Students should refrain from using the following:

–  Dresses for the girls

–  Jeans (shorts or pants)

–  Crocks

–  Sandals

–  Boots

 

RULES:

Have fun!

Candy, food, and/or gum – out of sight, out of mind!

Positive attitude!

Remain in supervised areas all the time!

 

Español del 29 de enero al 2 de febrero

Lunes 29: introducción al Romanticismo. Se les pedirá traer imágenes relacionadas al movimiento literario, música, atuendos, enciclopedias de arte, etc, en clase se les dará mayor información.

Estas imágenes tendrán que ser llevados a partir del miércoles 1 de febrero se dividirá la clase en comités para trabajar en el proyecto del tema.

Empezarán a trabajar en el mural del Romanticismo. Seguiremos con la temática del Romanticismo.

Necesitan ir buscando el libro que leerán para el parcial recuerden que tiene que ser un autor romántico o realista. A continuación les daré algunas recomendaciones:
Nuestra Señora de Notre Dame, La dama de las Camelias, Los Miserables, Los tres mosqueteros, El Conde de Montecristo, La vuelta al mundo en 80 días, Viaje al centro de la tierra, 20 mil leguas de viaje submarino, María de Jorge Isaacs, Blanca Olmedo si no lo ha leído. Tienen que confirmar para el viernes 2 de febrero. Ustedes tendrán que comprar o conseguir su propio libro.
