Psychology Nov. 30-Dec. 4

On Monday, you will finish presenting your projects on gender. As discussed in class, instead of having a psychology final exam, you will be writing a research paper and presenting your findings to the class in a presentation. This will be a total of 200 points, 100 points for the research paper and 100 points for the presentation. We will be discussing rubrics in class. If you are not going to be here for final exams, you need to have a conversation with me very soon about when you will be finishing this paper and presenting the information.

We will brainstorm together a list of topics related to mental health and you will choose one of these topics for the focus of your paper. You will have ample class time to work on this paper and project, so the expectations are very high. I will be using the 6+1 writing rubric to grade the paper and an oral presentation rubric for the speaking portion of the project.

SCHEDULE FOR PRESENTATIONS:

Wednesday= Alejandra, Sam, Owen, Efrain

Thursday= Liam, Cilia, Ruth, Cris

Friday= Yasmin, Gabriel, Ian, Isa

TIMELINE FOR RESEARCH PAPER:

You should be working on your first draft this weekend and have a portion of your paper written for Monday. On Tuesday, your first finished draft is due. On Thursday, you need to edit and revise after peer comments and teacher comments. The final draft of the paper is due on the day of your Psychology exam. The grade for your paper and the grade for your presentation will be averaged together and used as your semester exam.
